Barr didn’t think they were fair and I am sure the defendant didn’t either. What purpose does it serve to put some old man who is no threat to society behind bars for years ? It’s just political vengeance.
Well his orange lord didn't think it was fair so Barr meddled to fix it for him. Breaking the law requires a just punishment.
Justice isn’t served by hurting old people because they wouldn’t throw their friend under the bus. I think 6 months minimum security or probation is enough. He is going to be pardoned after the election anyway. What do you want to do to him ?
Justice is served by applying the law equally to everyone.
That’s not an answer. What sentence do you think he should get ?
It's a response to you first comment. The sentencing recommendation should have met the sentencing guidelines set by Congress.
There is a range in the guidelines and the AG has reduced the recommendation. The Judge has discretion in the actual sentence. So what would you give him ?
To far below the guidelines. We're not talking about the judge. That's irrelevant to Barr meddling on behalf of his orange lord.
The AG has final say. The judge is the one who sets the sentence. If you were the judge what would you give him ? I would give him probation. Three felony convictions and getting disbarred and humiliated is enough punishment.
The judge has the final say. The AG should be giving recommendations within the guidelines even if it is a buddy of his dark lord. I'd give him the minimum on the guideline with parole available when half the minimum is served. Convictions themselves are a punishment. He's clearly not humiliated at all and he's wealthy enough that being disbarred will have no affect on him.
I would give him the minimum allowed under the law. Guidelines are just guidelines .

AG Barr is now getting involved to fix things for the next Trump ally. It's always good to have connections that are not concerned with the rule of law.

Bill Barr launches a new ‘highly unusual’ effort to interfere in a Robert Mueller prosecution
Written by Alex Henderson February 14, 2020

The week after Donald Trump was acquitted on two articles of impeachment, yet another presidential related scandal emerged top Department of Justice officials lowered the sentencing recommendation from line prosecutors in the Roger Stone case. And according to New York Times reporters Matt Apuzzo, Charlie Savage and Adam Goldman, there is another Trump associate whose case is subject to Attorney General William Barr‘s meddling: former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

The Times journalists are reporting that Barr, according to their sources, has “assigned an outside prosecutor to scrutinize” the case again Flynn. The review, they note, “is highly unusual and could trigger more accusations of political interference by top Justice Department officials into the work of career prosecutors.”
All federal criminal justice cases fall under the purview of the head of the Department of Justice of the United States, The Attorney General.
Flynn plead guilty TWICE
