The American Chestnut Tree

Post by Pete » Wed Nov 21, 2018 8:14 pm

When I was a kid, way before all the electronic toys kids have now, we would spend all day in the woods, walking the creeks and enjoying nature. We would find edible stuff to eat like apples and crab apples, etc. We'd pull up sassafras and make tea. One other thing that was plentiful was the American Chestnut. We used to eat lots of those raw. What a shame what has happened to that once-plentiful tree.

I'm going to try to lay hands on some blight-resistant seeds and grow some trees
