Left-leaning billionaire heaps praise on Trump in shocking statement

When it comes to liberal politics, no single man is quite as feared as liberal billionaire George Soros.

To many, Soros is a political boogeyman, using his vast wealth and shadowy connections to influence elections all around the world, almost exclusively to support ultra-liberal causes and candidates.

But something unique has happened this week, as Soros took to the Wall Street Journal to praise President Trump in an unexpectedly direct manner.

Soros called Trump’s policy on China, “coherent and genuinely bipartisan” as well as “the greatest — and perhaps only — foreign policy accomplishment of the Trump administration.”

Specifically, Soros said the Trump administration was right to put Huawei on the Commerce Department’s “entity list” as a national security threat, which prevents U.S. companies from engaging in business with the firm.

In the op-ed, Soros called China “a dangerous rival in artificial intelligence and machine learning” but said its ability to compete in the 5G market is seriously hampered by Huawei’s dependence on U.S. companies.

Huawei has been at the forefront of espionage concerns as well, with the massive tech company standing accused of shipping devices containing spyware to the United States on a regular basis.

Soros would go on to really his concerns, however, that Huawei could become a bargaining chip in the ongoing trade war between the US and China.

But Soros said he worries Trump could remove Huawei from the entity list as a concession to China during trade talks. Soros said he believes Trump will want to arrange such talks in the lead-up to the 2020 election. While amendments have been introduced in the House and Senate to prevent Trump from removing Huawei from the list without congressional consent, Trump has sought to block that restriction, Soros wrote.

President Trump’s trade war with China has disproportionately affected American farmers, particularly those who work with soybeans, and could be a sticking point for a great many rural voters come 2020.
