A neighbor that lives across the street from me, about 15 years ago had one of his horses tethered in his front yard eating grass, along came two pits that broke through his gate and killed his horse....a few weeks later there were two dead pit bulls.....

It's not meant to be of comfort. It's just the truth. Responsible dog owners don't let their animal roam the neighborhood and then no one gets bit

Some breeds of dogs can do far more damage that others I think is the point.

That's a tough call. I've known a lot of good pits... and have never had any trouble with a well socialized pit...and in this instance, they had months of this dog running loose in the neighborhood and no one did anything... like looking for trouble.

and you could make the same argument about rottweillers...

I'm not sure I'd outlaw them... but I'd have no issues with requiring a certain amount of training and an insurance policy.
