The rates of Police killed in the line of duty in the UK are far lower than in the USA.
It's very rare for Police to be shot here.
In Wikipedia's list of Police officers who died in the line of duty there are just 121.

I was actually in CLT a couple hours after the incident. Never saw so many cop cars and blocked intersections. I thought maybe Camel-Uhhh was in town
