Classic cars

Lotus Eclat (I just like these).

Image
Jaguar XJ12 Broadspeed (very rare) this is the one from the New Avengers.

Image
Metro 6R4 Group B Rally car, it may not look like much, but these were seriously fast mid engined rally cars.
Road going versions had 250bhp, Rally versions 410bhp.
The engine was further developed and used in the Jaguar XJ220.

Image
Lotus Carlton, top speed 177mph. Only 950 were made, they are very sought after now.

That Lotus Carlton reminds me stylistically of this 86 Mitsubishi Starion.

Prices vary but because of rarity and performance, there are some Lotus Carlton's on sale for as much as £100k.

The ordinary Vauxhall Carlton was in it's day a favourite of traffic Police, they had a tuned version, not as nice as the Lotus model though.

The Starion is a nice design.

That comment about police cars reminded me of a north GA USA sheriff outfitting his department with one of these:

I've always liked Trans Ams and Camaros, I guess a Smokey and the Bandit toy I had as a kid had something to do with that.

This is a 1962 AC Ace:

The design was developed into the more famous AC Cobra by Carroll Shelby.

There didn't used to be speed limits on our motorways until a 180mph test drive of a Cobra sparked a debate in the Commons.
After that a speed limit of 70mph was introduced.
