Donald Trump’s frequent posts on Twitter have proven to be incredibly divisive: You either love them or hate them.
They’ve also proven to be incredibly effective. Even the president’s enemies can’t help themselves from following and responding to Trump’s public messages, and the fact that he’s able to speak directly to the American people seems to drive the mainstream media bonkers.
Trump just showed his Twitter “trolling” skills with a tweet that resonated with many Americans — and predictably, those on the left couldn’t keep themselves from taking the bait.
“In the East, it could be the COLDEST New Year’s Eve on record,” Trump posted on Thursday evening.
Then he teased the “global warming” crowd which was so desperate to push the United States into the Paris climate agreement Trump pulled the country out of.
“Perhaps we could use a little bit of that good old Global Warming that our Country, but not other countries, was going to pay TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS to protect against. Bundle up!”
As CT reported yesterday — a few hours before Trump said the same thing, actually — New York is bracing for one of the coldest New Year’s Eves in recent history, yet the “climate change” brigade was strangely silent.
“The temperature is expected to drop to around 12 degrees, about 12 degrees below normal and one of the coldest on record,” reported WNYW News.
Predictably, half of Twitter lost their minds over Trump’s tweet.
“Dude needs to watch The Day After Tomorrow,” recommended one commenter. Apparently a 2004 Jake Gyllenhaal movie now counts as “science” to the left.
“My cat is capable of more complex thinking and more profound statements than our POTUS. And the cat doesn’t even speak English,” wrote another. No evidence of this claim was provided, but trusting a cat over the president does explain those pink hats spotted at feminist marches.
“There is a difference between ‘weather’ and ‘climate’. The former is the local phenomena, variable over short timescales. The latter isn’t,” posted another Twitter user.
The last comment is actually correct — weather is of course not climate, and short timescales don’t tell the whole story. That was Trump’s entire point, yet the left was too busy pounding their chests to notice it.
Trump used the same argument as many global warming alarmists, but simply inverted it. The left took the bait, and made the argument for him.
In fact, it is climate change proponents who consistently use week-long heat waves and incredibly short timescales as “evidence” of their theory.
We’ve documented this several times: Whenever it gets hot in the summer or there’s a strong hurricane one year, the climate buffoons trip over themselves to use the event as “proof” that human civilization is on the brink of climate collapse.
Yet when inconvenient events like low winter temperatures hit, the same outlets are shockingly silent, as if they know that it’s easier to push their agenda when it happens to be hot.
It actually is a bad idea to make sweeping statements and long-term predictions based on a handful of easily-manipulated data points — yet that’s what the left does constantly!
The earth is billions of years old, yet we have extremely little data on actual climate trends. Global warming fears are based on theoretical models and guesswork… and increasingly, there is evidence that the models are simply wrong.
It’s on that flimsy, incomplete data that liberals want to use to justify crippling economic decisions, like the United States-punishing Paris agreement or the disastrous carbon tax proposal.
Once again, Trump has shown that he can cut through all the noise and connect directly with the American people. He just said what is on many people’s minds.
It may be inelegant, but it’s effective.
