A thread to discuss planes

P40 Warhawks based at Duxford.

My favourite WW2 fighter, even more than the Spitfire.
Why? I had a toy polystyrene glider of one when I was a kid.
And it was my favourite.

P40: slower and less maneuverable than the Spitfire, but more robust and longer legged. Good bird, but obsolescent by 1941.

It served well in North Africa. The .50 calibre armament did more damage than the .303s of the early Spitfires and Hurricanes.
