electronics are allegedly ready. Bill was $150. Gotta pick up the chassis tomorrow and start harassing the cabinet repair guy now LOL
My grandmother had one of those. That's when I learned the value of the first to arrive with a pickup truck.

It was crazy how it landed in my lap. All of us (my brothers and cousins) were sitting around at my aunt's house after the funeral and the subject of the radio came up and, IMHO, a lot of people in that room were in line for the radio other than me, but one by one they all declined. I shoved it in the back seat of my little compact car and drove directly into one of the worst snowstorms I had ever seen. I was hoping I could outrun it but I couldn't have been more wrong. The thing that really struck me while driving on the interstate was that there was not another soul on the interstate. Not one. I finally pulled off near Lexington KY and a couple State Troopers pushed me off the exit and I grabbed the last available hotel room. I was stuck there for 2 or 3 days

Sweet... hope you were at a hotel that had some services... I got stuck in the Upper Penninsula... one of those motels stuck in the middle of nowhere. Only two tv stations, no stores within walking distance... diesel turned to jelly... fortunately there were a couple of snowmobilers who took mercy on me... half a quart of vodka fixed the diesel, the other half fixed me... ;)

walked a block to Waffle House and dropped my bank card in a snow bank somewhere. Never did find it. I was able to somehow manipulate some cash into another card I had. That part was effed

now we're getting somewhere. Got her 99% back together. All I need to do is solder the shortwave antenna wires back in place. Too tired to fiddle with hot solder tonight

yes the original chassis. the tech 're-capped' it ie replaced all of the original electrolytic capacitors. He claims the tubes are OK and will outlive all of us. It sounds just like I remember it as a kid tuning in WLS outta Chicago at night

Wow... I remember that... and KAAY Beaker Street out of Little Rock. You can imagine my surprise as I was moving to Little Rock and finally got in range, to find the station was now doing evangelical preaching 24x7.
