You missed that bit out.
They can't hold elections because everywhere is under attack and millions are refugees.
How would the people in the occupied regions be able to vote?
How would the people who fled as refugees (whose homes have been destroyed) how would they be able to vote?
In Russia there is an exercise to identify and kill the opposition.
In Ukraine there is an attempted genocide being carried out by the invader.
Russia is not a democracy, it is a dictatorship.
Time to stop defending that dictatorship.

And Zelenskyy was elected when Trump was President.
Trump asked Zelenskyy to interfere in US politics on his behalf and wouldn't take sides.
But Ukraine has been invaded, homes, schools, hospitals, power stations, even a dam have all been bombed. The invaders are bombing everything, it is not possible to hold elections whilst bombs are falling.
And in Putin's Russia there are no elections, just an exercise in rooting out and murdering the dissidents.
Elections are free and fair, in Russia Boris Nemtsov was gunned down, Alexei Navalny was gunned down, rivals of Putin's keep being murdered.
That is not how democracy works.

2) Putin sponsored, armed and advised terrorists (the Baader Meinhof group) in the 1980's who killed American citizens.
3) His forces have invaded multiple nations and have their sights set on invading and occupying more.
His regime has also said it wants Alaska back.
4) Assassins paid for by Putin have gone into NATO nations and killed people, including Alexander Litvinenko and Dawn Sturgess.
5) If Ukraine were to fall, he would rebuild his military and then invade a NATO country.
Better to arm Ukraine to the teeth, kick his arse and give Russia the encouragement they need to get rid of him and his crooked cronies.
