Don’t be fooled. Graham-Cassidy does not repeal Obamacare

Personal Liberty Poll
Exercise your right to vote.

Surprise, surprise. Your Senators are lying to you… again.

The Graham-Cassidy bill that is being pushed through the Senate as an Obamacare repeal bill does nothing of the sort. And in order to get it passed, Senators are doing what they do best: spending your money.

They’re doing it in the form of bribes to recalcitrant Senators. Oh, they don’t call it that. But when the “leverage” used to get a waffling Senator like Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski on board is sending more pork to her state, that’s exactly what it is.

Reports indicate that if Senator Lindsey Graham and Senator Bill Cassidy can buy her off they will have enough votes to push it through the Senate. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan has indicated the votes exist in the House to pass it as well.

Then we’ll have, as Senator Rand Paul, describes it, “Obamcarelite.”

Here’s a breakdown of what the bill does and does not do, according to the Citizen’s Council for Health Freedom:

It does NOT repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
It does NOT repeal the individual and employer mandates; it only zeroes out the penalty dollars, leaving it possible for later Congresses to increase. (GC Section by Section)
Maintains dependence on ACA’s federal and state exchanges.
The federal government is still in charge (unless states reassert 10th Amendment authority, which they can do without federal permission).
ACA insurance regulations remain nationalized and under federal control.
Sets up three state-based funds using federal dollars collected under the ACA ($35B for insurers; $1.176T in stability funds to states for 2020 – 2026; $11B contingency fund for certain states.
Unelected federal bureaucrats determine funding formulas.
Unless prohibited, federal funds could “turbocharge” single-payer” in states.
Only smallest of ACA 19 taxes are repealed (restrictions on use of HSA/FSA, the increased penalties on non-health care uses of HSA dollars, the Medical device taxes, and the elimination of deduction for employers who receive a subsidy from Medicare for offering retiree prescription drug coverage).
ACA “qualified health plans” would be prohibited from offering abortion other than in cases of rape, incest, or to save the life of the mother.
Allows all individuals to buy Obamacare catastrophic plans beginning January 1, 2019.
The September 30 “deadline” for repeal is “fake news,” says Chris Jacobs.

To be clear, the Graham-Cassidy bill does not repeal the Affordable Care Act, or its exchanges or the Obamacare coverage. Senator Rand Paul says it only repeals 90% of ACA spending. He calls it “ObamacareLite at its worst.” Says it just redistributes the ACA dollars from Democrat states to Republican states (more money to states that didn’t expand Medicaid). It does not repeal Obamacare. The Graham-Cassidy bill is not a fulfillment of the Republican promise to repeal Obamacare.

If you want to let your Senators know you don’t fall for this ruse, give them a call. Tell them to “Repeal the Bill.”

This is not an Obamacare repeal bill, which is what they promised us. This is just another redistribution scheme that will continue to steal your wealth and prop up the crony medical-industrial complex.
