Las Vegas pastor reaches plea deal

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Las Vegas pastor agreed to a misdemeanor charge as part of a plea deal with Clark County prosecutors Monday in a case involving at least one child, according to court documents.

Bobby Cornealius Smith, 46, agreed to an Alford plea, which is when a defendant does not admit guilt but does acknowledge there likely is enough evidence to cause a jury to reach a conviction, documents show.

As a result of the plea, he will be sentenced on one count of misdemeanor conspiracy to commit a crime, and one count of misdemeanor gross lewdness. As part of the plea deal, Smith must complete probation and agree to give up all electronic devices and equipment seized in the case. Upon completion of his probation, the count of misdemeanor gross lewdness will be dismissed.

Smith initially faced charges related to the sexual assault of three women, including one family member and two women whom he referred to as “God daughters,” and was indicted by a grand jury on eleven felony charges, including nine counts of sexual assault, one count of attempted sexual assault, and one count of child abuse, neglect, or endangerment.

A Petersburg man with former ties to Our Saviour Grade School, Routt Catholic High School, and Central Christian Church in Jacksonville as well as youth theater productions in Springfield has pleaded guilty to 34 counts of sexual exploitation of children, possession of child pornography, and distribution of child pornography attached to a federal indictment.

30-year old Adam L. Power pleaded guilty to the charges before federal Magistrate Judge Colleen Lawless on Thursday in Springfield after requesting a change of plea in the case on April 17th, according to federal court records.

According to the criminal complaint, eight women came forward to accuse the father and son of assaulting them when they were youths at the church. In May 2022, six women spoke to deputies about Travis Huse. Five of the women said Travis Huse sexually assaulted them during the 1990s and one victim said he assaulted her in 2006.

A jury took 58 minutes of deliberation Tuesday to find a Wichita Falls pastor guilty of six counts of indecency with a child.

Ronnie Allen Killingsworth, 79, was found guilty of sexually abusing three young girls, now adults, between 2000 and 2011.

GARLAND, Texas — Police want you to see his face. Many might recognize him, even if he looks different these days.

“We received a call on a Friday, a report from the diocese as well as family members, regarding an actual offense that occurred regarding this priest,” Garland Police Public Information Officer Lt. Pedro Barineau said on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, Garland Police announced that its officers had arrested 34-year-old Ricardo Reyes Mata, a priest with the Catholic Diocese of Dallas.

Reyes Mata is accused of inappropriately touching two minors in a Garland home. Police told WFAA, the alleged victims ages range from 10 to 17.
